Dave Madden and Wendy Colonna put on a great show at Threadgills the other night. The band was tight (as always) and the lovely Ginger Leigh and Noëlle Hampton brought the sweet background vocals.
I’ll be showing 10 peices at an art + music event this Thursday benefiting The Children’s Music Foundation. Will Taylor and Strings Attached will be performing, with piano man James Speer opening the show. There will be a silent auction as well – some great items including a pink guitar signed by Billy Gibbons and [...]
I had the opportunity to do a portrait of piano man James Speer recently. He’s super talented with a really rich voice that falls somewhere between Bill Withers and Ray Charles. I’m definitely a fan.
Carolyn Wonderland and Will Taylor String Quartet joined Ginger Leigh at Flamingo Cantina in Austin on Thursday as part of Ginger’s weekly performance series Love at the Cantina.
I got to photograph renowned musician / composer / arranger Will Taylor at his home in South Austin last week. Will and I, along with musician James Speer, are participating in an art + music event on May 17 benefiting The Children’s Music Foundation. This session was in support of that event and to help [...]
Ian Moore delivered a heaping helping of his trademark balls to the wall, searing electric blues at Uncle Billy’s Rooftop on Lake Travis in Austin, TX. Check out the photos!
Vallejo performed a killer set at Uncle Billy’s Rooftop Saturday night in Austin. An excellent live band and a great bunch of guys!
Uncle Billy’s on Lake Travis is repositioning itself as a major Austin music venue. Stage, lighting and sound system upgrades are just the beginning with lots more exciting stuff to come. Billy Gibbons opened the Rooftop Concert Series along with special guests including Eric Johnson, Anton Fig, Ellis Hall, Van Wilks, Martin Guigui, Phil LoPresti, [...]
I photographed Dave Madden and his band last week. Dave and his cohorts are an awesome bunch of top quality musicians and I was really looking forward to working with them. There was a lot to do in a short amount of time and shooting such a large group can be challenging, but I think [...]
Bob Schneider and Mitch Watkins performed at a Live Vibe Collective house concert to benefit Love Hope Strength, the world’s leading rock ‘n roll cancer foundation, this past Thursday in Austin. Bob’s a Texas treasure, second only to Willie Nelson I suspect. Having lived in the UK for the past 12 years, I was not [...]
Danny Malone performed at a Live Vibe Collective house concert here in Austin Thursday night (along with Bob Schneider and Mitch Watkins – more on that later) to benefit Love Hope Strength, the world’s leading rock ‘n roll cancer foundation. Danny and his group were amazing! I walked into the tiny green room to retrieve [...]
John Pointer owned Antone’s Friday night. Dude was CEO. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I’d seen him the night before in a little place called Skinny’s Ballroom and he was good, but the crowd was modest and subdued that night and the venue much more low key than Antone’s. But last night, whoa! [...]
I caught John Pointer’s show at Skinny’s last night. It’s a quaint little venue with pretty subdued lighting, but a great sound system. John’s a brilliant musician and performer – check him out.
Ginger Leigh played a bangin’ set at the Saxon Pub Saturday night. Big energy and passion, got a real buzz off her. Could have photographed Ginger all night. Was a treat seeing John Pointer on stage with her too. He performed support duties with style, then took center stage for an uproarious rendition of one [...]
Jesse Dayton played a killer show out by the lake last Friday. I got to catch the gig and make some photos for my new friends at Uncle Billy’s. Good times, wonderful people, 100% Texas! So glad to be here.
I recently had the chance to photograph the lovely and hugely talented Shelley Mac in Knole Park near my home in Kent. She was passing through on her way back home to New Zealand after playing a few gigs in Austin, TX, with Rod Williams, a massive talent in the Texas music scene. The park [...]
